If you are lucky enough to be able to afford to stay in a 4 or 5-star hotel on your visit to London, there are a few good ones to consider.

Threadneedles Boutique hotel – This hotel is less than 6 miles from the airport, and will only take you 20 minutes to get there if you’ve rented a car direct from City Airport. The hotel is built in a converted bank building that looks absolutely gorgeous from the outside, and the furnishings inside are equally beautiful. Everything looks just perfect, with no attention to detail spared; there’s a reason why it’s received a 5-star rating from the UK Tourism Board.

The Strand Palace Hotel – This is a luxury hotel situated in the heart of London’s famous West End, where some of the best actors in the world entertain you in playhouses every single night. There’s also a selection of fancy restaurants just a short drive from the hotel. Taking the car from City Airport to this hotel, would take just under 30 minutes.

The Royal Horseguards Hotel – If you’re looking for a hotel that prides itself on the use of state of the art technology in making your stay better, this is a must. The hotel has won various awards for using technology efficiently in the pursuit of luxury, from clever room ambience systems right down to self-flushing toilets that can detect your presence. Fine dining is also available in their flagship restaurant One Twenty Two One. Travelling to City Airport by car will take a similar amount of time as driving to The Strand Palace Hotel – a mere 30 minutes.

Stress Free Travelling

Like most cities, there are many ways of travelling around London. There is an underground train system which can take you around the London area, but you may have to walk from the station to the place you want to get to and it can be confusing knowing which line to take and where to get off. Sometimes you have to change trains several times. There are sometimes delays and closures on the line and this can be stressful as well as the fact that you have to stick to the timetables. The trains create similar problems in that you have to stick to the timetable, find a station and there may be delays. They do cover more ground though and you can travel all over the country.

The bus is a cheaper option but you obviously have to travel along the route which could restrict you to where you want to go and may mean that you have to walk some distance or get a taxi to your final destination. The taxi’s are pretty popular in London. There are a lot of them but at peak times you can end up having to wait quite a while before you have to get one. They can be expensive as well and will not take you massively long distance. If you want complete freedom, good value for money, be able to travel where ever you want and when you want then car hire is a good option instead. You should be able to easily hire a car form the airport.

Some performers are popular, and in some cases more so, outside of the United States. For these stars, there are an ample number of shows that you could attend locally, but there are also shows that you can see in other countries. The point for many people to leave the country to see someone perform is that it is a lot of fun and they will get to accomplish two things they most likely wanted to do anyway. Many people will go to Germany or Japan to see shows, but the O2 arena in London is probably the best place to go.

The O2 arena was built inside a dome which was originally meant for thousands to bring in the turn of the century and also a new millennium in 1999. Since then the O2 company has purchased the dome and has created a miniature shopping and entertainment paradise. Another great feature is its closeness to London City Airport where you can find great rates on transportation as well as flights.

The arena in the center of the dome offers spectacular lights, pyrotechnic options and a great stage for the performers. As part of the reopening for the the O2 Dome, Bon Jovi performed in the arena which seats 23,000 people. The arena will feel somewhat familiar to Americans who visit as it was designed using similar venues in the United States as a template. With all of the features you should take a couple of days and enjoy everything the dome has to offer.
