Flying has numerous positive aspects. The flights are generally very quick; certainly much quicker than other forms of transport! You can fly to Australia in under 24 hours; by boat it would take upwards of a week! Because flights are so quick they are generally much cheaper than other sorts of transport. It is for this reason that millions of people around the world choose to fly to go on holiday; it has even become a popular way of getting to and from the continent from Britain, even though the Channel Tunnel is just as good! It seems, to many, that there are very few flaws to flying (leaving aside the obvious negative effects that excess flying has on the pollution in the atmosphere). However, this is not the case; flying has one major flaw – when you arrive at your destination, you are without transport.
Of course, when you arrive at London City airport you may think this isn’t worth worrying about; after all, London has many different ways of transporting yourself around. Yet, the last thing you want to be doing is allowing yourself to be bound to very specific times and schedules. You can’t hope to be able to enjoy your time in London if you are constantly looking over your shoulder at the time. Instead, make sure that you hire a car from the airport as soon as you arrive. The service is incredibly quick with minimal queuing and, importantly, it is cheap; meaning you won’t be out of pocket!

One of the last things that is likely to be on your mind when you are booking a holiday, and why should it be? You will want to get your flights booked, accommodation booked, activities sorted out and transport organised on the other side before you even think about how to get to the airport. It is also very likely that once all this has been completed you will not want any additional hassle when you are travelling to the station and will therefore decide to drive to the airport. This has the obvious advantage of being in complete control of your journey and, if something unexpected happens, you’ll be able to do something about it (whereas in a bus or train you’d be sat helpless).
Many people are likely to see this as a bad idea as many of the old stereotypes are prevalent throughout Britain. The cost, for example, works out a little under £1 per hour which, no matter how much you analyse it, is a very good rate. It could even work out cheaper than a train – particularly if you see that you would have to travel into London which could add upwards of £50 onto the cost of your holiday – this is an avoidable cost. You can even book a space in the car park ahead of time and not have the worry of being unable to find a parking space. This wouldn’t be an issue anyway – the car park is able to hold hundreds of cars so you will always be able to find a space.
