When travelling by air it is often a major concern as to where to park your car while you are gone. One needs to contemplate not only the cost of the vehicle storage but also the degree of safety that will surround your car during the time you are away.

Around London City Airport there are seven different car parking facilities. Each of them provides secure storage. The Short Stay Car Park located adjacent to the terminal does not require advance booking. Rates start at as little as £4 for a half an hour and go up in increments to £41 per 24 hours. Their Main stay parking beyond the Short Stay lot is £14 for up to four hours with full day rates set at £36 per 24 hour period. Long term parking does require advanced booking, there are minimum stay limits and are available with the Holidays Extras packs. Motorcycles and bicycles are allowed to stay for free.

Executive Chauffeur Parking Ltd also services the London City Airport. The chauffeur will meet you outside the terminal building on arrival and, with an advance call, return your vehicle to you. Security features include 24-hour CCTV, manned guards and are fully undercover from the elements.

You may also choose the London City Valet Parking service. You deliver your car to the Valet Parking Zone and turn over the keys before you check in to your flight. On your return you check in at the information desk for validation and the valet will bring your car to the terminal. While London City Valet Parking does provide staff and onsite police patrols and CCTV monitoring, they do qualify that your vehicle is parked at your own risk.

Flying has numerous positive aspects. The flights are generally very quick; certainly much quicker than other forms of transport! You can fly to Australia in under 24 hours; by boat it would take upwards of a week! Because flights are so quick they are generally much cheaper than other sorts of transport. It is for this reason that millions of people around the world choose to fly to go on holiday; it has even become a popular way of getting to and from the continent from Britain, even though the Channel Tunnel is just as good! It seems, to many, that there are very few flaws to flying (leaving aside the obvious negative effects that excess flying has on the pollution in the atmosphere). However, this is not the case; flying has one major flaw – when you arrive at your destination, you are without transport.

Of course, when you arrive at London City airport you may think this isn’t worth worrying about; after all, London has many different ways of transporting yourself around. Yet, the last thing you want to be doing is allowing yourself to be bound to very specific times and schedules. You can’t hope to be able to enjoy your time in London if you are constantly looking over your shoulder at the time. Instead, make sure that you hire a car from the airport as soon as you arrive. The service is incredibly quick with minimal queuing and, importantly, it is cheap; meaning you won’t be out of pocket!

One of the last things that is likely to be on your mind when you are booking a holiday, and why should it be? You will want to get your flights booked, accommodation booked, activities sorted out and transport organised on the other side before you even think about how to get to the airport. It is also very likely that once all this has been completed you will not want any additional hassle when you are travelling to the station and will therefore decide to drive to the airport. This has the obvious advantage of being in complete control of your journey and, if something unexpected happens, you’ll be able to do something about it (whereas in a bus or train you’d be sat helpless).

Many people are likely to see this as a bad idea as many of the old stereotypes are prevalent throughout Britain. The cost, for example, works out a little under £1 per hour which, no matter how much you analyse it, is a very good rate. It could even work out cheaper than a train – particularly if you see that you would have to travel into London which could add upwards of £50 onto the cost of your holiday – this is an avoidable cost. You can even book a space in the car park ahead of time and not have the worry of being unable to find a parking space. This wouldn’t be an issue anyway – the car park is able to hold hundreds of cars so you will always be able to find a space.

London City Airport Departures

There are many reasons why someone would choose to fly from London City airport. The main reason is the accessibility; it is incredibly straightforward to get a flight to London which means that no matter where you are coming from, you will not be inconvenienced by having to get to the airport that may not be local to you. Another reason is the wide array of places that you can go to from the airport. With flights going to over 40 different destinations throughout Britain and the rest of the world, you can be sure that no matter where you want to go, there will be a flight for you.

One of the reasons that is not often cited is the exceptional departures area at London City airport. This may seem like a somewhat trivial matter – the departures lounge is likely to be the last thing that you consider when choosing an airport because, at the end of the day, you are only going to be spending a couple of hours maximum there. Yet, if you can ensure that those 2 hours are spent in comfort then you will find that your journey is much more enjoyable because of it. You are able to relax with a nice hot drink and a sandwich to fill you up before your flight (there is nothing worse than having an aching stomach on the plane and being forced to buy the expensive foods on the plane) and buy a book or magazine for you to try and occupy yourself during the monotonous flight.

London City Airport Parking

Everyone knows that London has a fantastic transport system – of that there is no doubt. The tube network and the bus routes all intertwine to provide a comprehensive transportation system that means you can get to any destination from any starting point. The only issue with this is that, unless you are trying to get to a place on numerous tube or bus routes, it is likely that you will have to change trains or buses numerous times before you reach the destination. This is all well and good if perhaps you are local and therefore know the area, or you are a visitor with lots of time to work out where you need to go and what route to take. However, for those who are intending to use London City airport, the likelihood is that they are not well acquainted with the area and, as such, will have to try and navigate this complex system whilst rushing to catch a plane – not an ideal scenario.

It is, therefore, much easier to drive to the airport and, in this modern age where cars are very widely used, the airport car park is now fully equipped to provide a good service for all who need it. There are enough spaces for everyone so no overflow from the short stay car park to the long stay car park and the prices are such that it will work out cheaper if you choose to drive than if you took the train. There is not, therefore any reason why you shouldn’t drive!

London City Airport Hotels

If you find travelling tiring then it is worth knowing that all of the major London city airports have hotels. Many people will fly in and then jump in their hire car straight away, but this is not a sensible idea if you have not had sleep on the flight. Travel can be tiring anyway, changing time zones can add to this tiredness and if you are one of the many people who cannot sleep on planes then you are likely to be exhausted when you arrive. There is something about travel which is tiring even if you are just a passenger and even if you are making a relatively short journey, it is quite odd.

It is obviously very dangerous to drive when you are tired, but if you do not know the roads and are possibly driving on a different side than you are used to then you really need all of your concentration working properly. It is therefore a good idea to book into an airport hotel and get a good nights rest before you continue your journey. It will mean that you can be much safer as you will be alert and you should find that the journey will be a much smoother one. You will have a much better start to your visit to the city. You should find the hotels all comfortable and if you book in advance you may even find that you can get a reduction in the price, which is always a good thing.
